“Invisalign has proved to be an effective option for a variety malocclusion cases” stated the Albany, GA Invisalign provider. “That along with the attractive features many patients want and the oral hygiene benefits make it a great orthodontic option for our patients.”
How Invisalign Works
Invisalign treatment starts with the final result visible. A 3-D computerized model of the patient’s teeth is developed which shows the patient’s teeth prior to and after treatment with Invisalign. Margeson makes any necessary changes and the information is then sent to the Invisalign lab where the aligners are created.
Using Invisalign’s ClinCheck software, Margeson is able to demonstrate each patient’s movement, aligner by aligner, throughout the process of treatment.
Invisalign aligners that are made of clear, medical-grade plastic are custom-made to fit the individual needs of each patient. In general, patients receive between four and six sets at their next orthodontic appointment. Each aligner lasts approximately two weeks.
Margeson explained that the set of aligners works together to gradually shift teeth into the correct alignment. The treatment typically lasts between nine to 18 months.
Oral Hygiene Benefits
Invisalign treatment is simple since aligners can be removed as you drink, eat, and floss.
Margeson said that tartar as well as plaque can build around brackets in patients who aren’t careful with their dental hygiene. Food particles often get stuck in brackets.” Flossing can take longer due to floss threaders being required to navigate between teeth and wires to ensure proper flossing.
Removeable aligners will eliminate any possible obstructions. Patients wear aligners for a while and then take them off to drink or eat. Patients can brush and floss as usual.
